"Note: The following note is pasted on the inside front cover of the record: "The first twelve leaves of this book are a copy from the original record book of a church established in North East Precinct, Little Nine Partners, Dutchess County, NY about 1746, but no church record previous to this of 1760 has been discovered. What follows after the first twelve leaves is an original record. The locality is now known by a hamlet called Bethel in the town of Pine Plains, Dutchess County NY, two and a half miles southeasterly from the village of Pine Plains. There the church building was built about 1746 and called 'Round Top'; from the shape of its roof. It was in part the outcome of the Moravian Indian Mission called Shacameco located about one mile southwesterly on the Edward Huntting farm, which mission was substantially broken up in 1846. For a more complete description of this church and society see Huntting's history of 'Little Nine Partners, North East Precinet and Pine Plains' page 139 and following. March 19, 1906.
